1. Who this covers

Smartsoil EDU ("we", "us", "our") runs this website, the cover cropping calculator, the courses, the members' feed and the seed shop. This page says what we collect in each of those, why, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or get rid of it.

We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

2. What we collect, and why

If you fill in a form: your name, email address, phone number, region and whatever you write in the message. We use it to answer you and to tell you about courses you've asked about.

If you make an account: your email address, your name, and optionally your farm name and region. Your password is held by our login provider (Supabase) and we never see it.

If you use the calculator: the mixes you save, so they're there when you come back.

If you do a course: which lessons you've finished, so you can pick up where you left off.

If you post in the members' feed: what you write, any photos you add, and who you are to other members (your name).

If you buy seed: your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, what you ordered and what it cost. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us — we can see the last four digits and nothing else.

Everyone: basic technical information through Google Analytics (pages visited, rough location, browser). That's about understanding what's useful on the site, not about identifying you.

3. Who else sees it

We don't sell your information and we never will. We use a small number of services to run the site, and they only get what they need to do their part: Supabase (accounts and data), Vercel (the website itself), Stripe (payments), Resend (the emails we send you), Google Analytics (website statistics), and Vimeo (course videos).

We may also have to disclose information where the law requires it.

4. How long we keep it

Your account and everything attached to it — profile, saved mixes, course progress, feed posts — stays until you delete your account, and goes when you do.

Seed orders are different: we have to keep records of what we sold, to whom and for how much for five years, because the ATO requires it. So an order keeps the name and delivery address it was sent to even after an account is deleted. It stops being linked to any account.

Enquiries and messages are kept while we're still dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards.

5. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself: sign in, go to your account page, and use "Delete your account" at the bottom. It takes away your profile, what you've paid for, your saved mixes, your course progress and everything you've posted in the feed, including photos. It can't be undone, and the seed orders described above are the one thing that stays.

If you'd rather we did it, or you want a copy of what we hold about you, or something we hold is wrong, email admin@smartsoil.com.au and we'll sort it out.

6. Keeping it safe

Everything travels encrypted. Your data sits in a managed database with row-level rules so one account can't read another's. Course files and feed photos are private and served through links that expire after an hour. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, who are PCI-certified.

If something ever does go wrong in a way that could put you at risk, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
